Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship Award
The Hertz Graduate Fellowship Award is based on merit (not need) and consists of a cost-of-education allowance and a personal-support stipend. Eligible applicants for Hertz Fellowships must be students of the applied physical and biological sciences, mathematics, and engineering who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America, and who are willing to morally commit to make their skills available to the United States in time of national emergency. Awardees receive five years of funding up to $250,000.
The National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) Loan Repayment Program (LRP)
The NCMHD was mandated by Congress to develop a distinct loan repayment program to increase the pool of extramural researchers who conduct health disparities research. The NCMHD Loan Repayment Program (LRP) offers an educational loan repayment of up to $50,000 per year to qualified health professionals with doctorate degrees (e.g., M.D., Ph.D., Dr.PH.) who are employed in non-federal academic/research settings and are able to conduct two years of health disparities or clinical research.
UC Global Health Institute: GloCal Health Fellowship
The GloCal Health Fellowship supports a 12-month, mentored research fellowship for investigators interested in studying diseases and conditions in developing countries. Designed for US doctoral students (PhD, DrPH, etc.), and postdoctoral fellows. Online course cost, travel costs, and research funding ($15,000) are all supported.
Advanced Practice Healthcare Scholarship Program (APHSP)
Eligible applicants may receive up to $25,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an underserved community in California.
Health Professions Loan Repayment Program
Those awarded the Health Professions Education Loan Repayment may receive up to $20,000. If awarded, recipients agree to a two-year service obligation practicing direct patient care at a qualified facility in California. Qualified facilities include those designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources Administration (HRSA) as a medically underserved area (MUA), health professional shortage area (HPSA), county, state, or veteran’s facility.
National Health Services Corps Loan Repayment Program
Full-time at an NHSC-approved site with HPSA score of 14 or above can receive up to $60,000 in loan repayment for committing to serve at site for at least two years. Full-time at an NHSC-approved site with HPSA score of 13 or below can receive up to $40,000 in loan repayment for committing to serve at the site for at least two years. Half-time at an NHSC-approved site with HPSA score of 14 or above can receive up to $60,000 in loan repayment for committing to serve for four years, or up to $30,000 for two years of service. Half-time at an NHSC-approved site with HPSA score of 13 or below can receive up to $40,000 in loan repayment for committing to serve for four years, or up to $20,000 for two years.
National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program
The NHSC Scholarship Program provides scholarships to health profession students pursuing careers as primary care providers in exchange for their commitment to serve in high-need, underserved communities. The scholarship includes tax-free payment of tuition, required fees, other reasonable educational costs, and a taxable monthly living stipend. You commit to a minimum two years of full-time service at an NHSC-approved site in a HPSA.
US Armed Forces Loan Repayment Programs (Army)
The Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program can help you repay up to $120,000 of those loans.
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
The largest national professional membership organization created for NPs of all specialties.

Scholarships and awards to support NP graduate students. Different awards and scholarships are offered depending on the year.
Air Force Health Professions
The Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program helps Masters level PA student’s complete PA programs by providing financial support to the school of their choice. Scholarship participants receive financial assistance covering all tuition and required fees, including books, small equipment items, and supplies needed for study. They will also receive a monthly stipend of around $2,608 to cover living expenses. To qualify students’ projected actual age on date of completion of PA program is less than 39, be a U.S. citizen, and enrolled in a program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)
Awards scholarships to student members of the Academy who are enrolled in an accredited PA program.
Association of Physician Assistants in Oncology
Awards up to $2,500 to PA students with strong interest in pursuing a career in oncology.
California Academy of Physician Assistants (CAPA)
Offers three $2,000 scholarships to CAPA student members.
Physician Assistants for Latino Health Scholarship
The Physician Assistants for Latino Health (PALH), a caucus of American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), offers scholarship grants to currently enrolled P.A. students. Students who are members of PALH and Student Academy of American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA) and demonstrate leadership in the Latino community and interest in Latino health issues (applicants do not need to be of Latino descent) are eligible to apply. The number of scholarships and amounts awarded vary each cycle.
Physician Assistant Foundation
The P.A. Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). A student member of the AAPA who is attending an ARC-PA-accredited P.A. program and is in the didactic or clinical professional phase of the program is eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds provided through contributions.
PAOS Physician Assistant Orthopedic Surgery
Current PA student in a current CAAHEA/CAAHEP or ARC-PA approved program. The top 5 candidates will be required to write a professional publish-worthy, orthopaedic case study, review article or clinical pearl (between 1,000 - 1,500 words with appropriate reference) for review by the scholarship committee. If selected as one of the scholarship recipients, you will be invited to attend the annual conference to present your paper and network with the Board of Directors (expenses paid). Offers 2 (two) $5,000 scholarships per year.
Prentiss L. Harrison Memorial/African Heritage P.A. Caucus (AHPAC) Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student member of the African Heritage PA Caucus (AHPAC). This scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to AHPAC student members who are considered an under-represented minority within the PA profession and/or considered an economically disadvantaged individual. The PA student must have successfully completed one term (semester or quarter) of PA studies, be a member of the African Heritage PA Caucus (may pay dues at time of application submission), and obtain 2 letters of reference, one of which must be from your preceptor, clinical instructor or program director. There is a maximum 1000 word essay. The award amount ranges between $500-$1500 per student.
AAPINA Scholarship Program
The Asian American/Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA) will award $500 to one of its members pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate nursing degree.
Deloras Jones RN Scholarship Program – Northern Region
Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, this scholarship offers $1000 to $3000 awards to eligible nursing students.
Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Scholarship Program
The Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Scholarship Program provides two $5,000 scholarships (four times a year) in funding to outstanding students in baccalaureate, master’s degree and doctoral programs at AACN member institutions. Eligible applicants must be admitted to a nursing school affiliated with CastleBranch or have submitted an application through AACN’s centralized application service, NursingCAS. Applicants must submit a brief essay on personal goals and career aspirations in nursing.
F.A. Davis Nursing Scholarships
F.A. Davis is dedicated to developing teaching and learning solutions that meet the needs of nursing and health science students, educators, and practitioners. Awards three $1000 scholarships.
Golden State Nursing Foundation
Applicants for the Graduate Scholarship must have completed their BSN, have their RN license and be attending or accepted to an accredited masters or doctorate program in nursing. MEPN (Master’s Entry Program Nursing) Students should apply for the Undergraduate scholarship. Applications will NOT be considered unless at least 2 Letters of Support are received by the due date. There are three categories (Bachelor Degree in Nursing, Master’s Entry Program Nursing (MEPN) or Entry-Level Master’s (ELM), and Advanced degree – Master’s, Doctorate, PhD) – two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded in each category.
National American Arab Nurses Association (NAANA) Scholarships for Nursing Study
NAANA offers an annual scholarship program in the amount of $500 to $1000 for applicants of Arab descent who are members of NAANA and enrolled at any level of nursing program.
National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) Scholarship Program
NBNA awards several scholarships to its graduate student members, including first-generation learners. Each applicant must have at least one more year of school to complete and submit an essay for consideration. These scholarships range from $1,000 - $15,000.
NURSE Corps Scholarship Program
As a student accepted or enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree nursing program, you can receive funding for tuition, fees, and other educational costs. In exchange you must work at an eligible facility with a critical shortage of nurses-a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF)-upon graduation. R.N. License is required.
Nurse Educational Funds (NEF)
NEF provides scholarships to advanced nursing program enrollees who demonstrate financial need, including first-generation students. Master’s and doctoral nursing students with registered nurse licenses and 3.6 GPAs can apply for funding to support their training at accredited schools.
National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
Recipients receive monthly stipend, plus payment of books and fees. For each year of support participant owes one year of service in a health profession shortage area as assigned by NHSC. Minimum service obligation is two years.
Health Care Access and Information
Scholarships of $25,000 in education program cost for one year while attending a health professions program in return for practice in a medically underserved area of California.
National Health Services Corp./CA State Loan Repayment Program
Provides for repayment of up to $25,000 (two –year commitment) or up to $35,000 (three- or four- year commitment) of educational loans incurred during training to student who agree to provide patient care in a certified eligible site in a designated shortage area in California.
