Prospective faculty information guide
Recruitment
The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks visionary researchers and educators to join the faculty team. Launched with a vision to advance health through leadership, the school is in search of faculty to further develop its research programs and lead four, soon to be five, graduate-degree programs preparing nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, researchers and other health leaders.
Faculty, regardless of discipline, who hope to expand their health care perspectives, ignite innovation in future health care leaders and transcend current approaches in health care are encouraged to join a team that cultivates academic excellence through interdisciplinary and interprofessional education and collaborative research.
The school seeks expertise in a wide variety of specialties and backgrounds. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can teach in more than one degree program at the School of Nursing.
Nationwide, salaries for faculty have been evaluated by many organizations and several reports conclude that nursing faculty are paid well below the market as compared to their peers who work in health-care delivery organizations. However, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing pays market-based salaries that are commensurate with peers working in clinical and administrative settings, as well as faculty peers in the School of Medicine. This equity is important given the interprofessional commitment of the school.
The school also offers founding faculty start-up packages to ensure faculty have the tools and resources necessary to cultivate a rigorous academic and research program. The foundation for the School of Nursing's research capacity and support for research programs is integrated within the infrastructure of the school. Faculty research programs are fully supported by a research and grants administration team and all project personnel are provided with a well-equipped office and appropriate space to conduct research.
In addition, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing recognizes that in order to attract the best nursing educators and researchers from across the nation, other components of a start-up package are necessary so faculty may focus on transition to such a visionary institution while achieving an appropriate level of work/life balance. Such components include providing assistance for a partner/spouse who is looking for career opportunities as well as relocation resources and assistance.
