Assistant Clinical Professor

Jody MinnickJody Minnick is an assistance clinical professor in the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. She teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner Program (DNP-FNP). Dr. Minnick’s practice specialty includes care of the elderly, dementia, hospital medicine and civilian and military emergency medicine. She is dual-board certified in Acute Care (ACNP-BC) and Family Medicine (FNP-BC).

Minnick’s practice specialty is focused on family, nurse practitioner and acute care nurse practitioner certifications. Her clinical interests are DNP project development, civilian and military emergency medicine, research, neurosurgery, geriatrics and flight medicine. She has previously taught multiple courses in the doctoral programs related to epidemiology, community health, statistics and evidence-based practice. She has also taught MSN courses including health assessment, pharmacology, epidemiology, statistics and family and acute care.

Prior to joining the School of Nursing, Minnick taught at Walden University and Incarnate Word University. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from San Antonio College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She received her Master of Science in Nursing focusing on Acute Care Nurse Practitioner studies from UT Health San Antonio. She received her DNP from the University of Alabama and her postmaster’s degree focusing on FNP studies from Texas Tech University.

Minnick was a founding member of the Enroute Care Research Center with the United States Airforce at Brooke Army Medical Center Institute of Surgical Research. Minnick’s DNP project was founded from research for the USAF through this center. She was also published for the evacuation of children (neonates) and adults during Hurricane Katrina as a flight nurse working for Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She currently a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and Sigma nursing societies.
