The joy of reconnecting

What a joy it was to reconnect with so many of you during Alumni Weekend 2025! We hope the photos and stories below spark happiness and remind you just how special the UC Davis School of Medicine community truly is. Whether you graduated last year or 50 years ago, we are proud and honored to have you as part of our alumni family.

This year, we celebrated milestone reunions, including the spirited Class of 1975 — fondly known as the “Gorilla Pit” for their unruly energy. We also proudly recognized three outstanding graduates with the 2025 School of Medicine Alumni Association (SOMAA) Alumni Awards.

From reconnecting on campus and touring Aggie Square to coffee roasting and learning about groundbreaking research, the weekend was full of memorable moments. If you couldn’t make it, we hope to see you next year!

We’re already planning next year’s event for October 1 – 4. As always, all M.D., resident, fellow, and Ph.D. alumni are welcome, no matter your class year! There will also be special reunion celebrations for class years ending in “1” and “6.” If you’d like to rally your classmates, reach out to us at medalumni@health.ucdavis.edu.

Do you know an exceptional UC Davis School of Medicine alum who deserves recognition? We welcome nominations — including self-nominations— for the 2026 SOMAA Alumni Awards. Visit the SOMAA website, click the “Awards” tab, and submit your nomination.

There are many ways to stay engaged beyond Alumni Weekend. Visit the “Volunteer” tab on the SOMAA website to learn how you can inspire medical students and get more involved. We also hope to see you at a future gathering. If you’re not receiving our electronic newsletter with news and events, please contact us at medalumni@health.ucdavis.edu so we can ensure your contact information is up to date.

Before we close, we want to express our heartfelt thanks. Your work in the field continues to inspire our students and strengthen our community. We’d love to hear how we can support you and celebrate your successes. Please stay in touch with your feedback, ideas, and updates.

Thank you for being a valued part of our alumni community. We look forward to connecting again soon!
