California Firefighter Cancer Research Study (CAFF-CRS)
Researchers from UC Davis and UCLA, in partnership with several collaborating fire departments, are conducting a groundbreaking study to examine cancer risks in firefighters. Firefighters are at high risk of getting cancer, which is compounded in California due to frequent wildfires. This study will explore the occupational risks that firefighters face while on the job and other risk factors, such as diet and tobacco use, that could be modified with future interventions. The ultimate goal of this research is to identify preventive strategies to lower the risk of cancer in firefighters.
