Survivorship

Cancer Survivorship is more than surviving cancer. It starts from the time of diagnosis and continues after treatment. The experience of living with cancer and beyond is unique to every patient.

A UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center’s survivorship nurse navigator, working as part of Supportive Oncology and Survivorship, is here to help. An oncology nurse navigator is a professional registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help address challenges and adapt to the “new normal” of life beyond cancer.

Cancer survivors often face multiple medical, psychosocial, and practical challenges, which may evolve over their lifespan. Some common challenges include:

  • Fear of cancer reoccurrence
  • Social and workforce adjustment
  • Healthy lifestyle changes
  • End of treatment transition
  • Coping with late effects of treatment

Survivorship Nurse Navigator-led services include:

  • Survivorship Care Planning
