Population Sciences and Cancer Control
The Population Sciences and Cancer Control Program conducts impactful research aimed at preventing and reducing the burden of cancer. The program focuses on cancers affecting communities across Northern and Central California, addressing the full cancer control continuum — from understanding cancer causes and promoting prevention, to improving screening, diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, and long-term outcomes.
Leveraging UC Davis’s unique strengths and its surrounding communities, the program seeks to identify risk and protective factors for cancer occurrence and evaluate cancer prevention strategies, evaluate strategies to enhance early cancer detection and increase uptake of cancer screening, and examine variations in morbidity and mortality among cancer survivors and assess strategies to improve cancer outcomes.
