Pediatric infusion center
Infusion therapy is administered to infants, children and adolescents who require either one-time or ongoing IV therapy for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses including cancer, blood or genetic disorders, gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders. Infusion center staff members also perform blood draws and manage centrally placed catheters.
Our team
The outpatient infusion center is staffed by registered nurses, medical assistants, child life specialist and a licensed clinical social worker. Many of the registered nurses carry nationally recognized certifications in pediatric oncology.
Our environment
The center’s spacious and open area allows nurses to provide care for their patients in a relaxed and fun environment. Keaton’s Korner provides children with a safe, stress-free area where they can relax, read, watch movies, play video games and participate in art therapy and other creative projects during their visits.
We encourage one adult caregiver to remain with their child during their treatment, allowing us to teach and support family-centered care. Treatment times will vary, from as little as 15 minutes up to eight hours. Our center operates Monday through Friday. Visits to the pediatric infusion center can help eliminate the need for hospitalization and unnecessary stress for patients and their families.
To ensure the safety of all, we request that patients are accompanied by only one adult/person in the infusion room at a time. Due to the frequently changing needs of our patients and their accompanying parent or guardian, we ask that siblings remain at home during your child’s visit.
A beautiful outdoor courtyard and spacious waiting area and lobby provide space for family members waiting outside the infusion center. Vending machines with snacks are available on the first floor of in the cancer center’s South Building.
