Thank you for your interest in our combined family medicine and psychiatry (FMP) residency program. We aim to train providers who have a unique perspective on whole-person medicine, through a deep understanding of the full-spectrum, longitudinal care that family medicine physicians can provide, coupled with the depth and breadth of mental health care that is psychiatric practice.
As co-program directors representing these two fields of medicine, we share a commitment to developing professionals who are equipped to meet patients where they are within their families and communities, honor their histories and cultural contexts, and form therapeutic alliances to ensure that patients’ healthcare needs are addressed.
We also share a belief that residency training is relational, that residents who are held in community as whole people are best equipped to in turn provide whole-person care. We strive to offer our trainees a multitude of experiences where they can explore their specific interests and passions with the support of committed faculty members, many of whom are graduates of our program. Our FMP residency program was founded in 1995 and we are so proud to have trained generations of dual-boarded physicians who serve our community in a wide variety of settings and roles.
We hope you’ll consider all our program has to offer! And regardless of where the journey takes you, we wish you all the best.
Warmly,
Mika and Belinda
We seek to train physicians who will practice both family medicine and psychiatry. Our goal is to improve the physical and mental health of our communities, locally and beyond, by providing residents with diverse and foundational psychiatry and family medicine opportunities to learn and grow as clinicians.
