We work with centers, programs, and researchers to design and implement evaluation plans and disseminate findings.
The Evaluation Unit's philosophy and mission is to support researchers by providing actionable information that improves programs and highlights meaningful impact. Evaluation team members have expertise in evaluation design as well as quantitative and qualitative methods, including survey research, focus groups, interviews, and bibliometric analysis.
We collaborate with programs to design an evaluation plan with clear, measurable goals and optimal use of evaluation resources. Our evaluation proposals include a tailored set of evaluation questions, a program logic model or theory of change, and an evaluation workplan.
Process evaluation activities assess whether a program is implemented as envisioned. Evaluation tools may include tracking systems to monitor program activities and outputs and confidential feedback sessions or interviews with program participants to assess program quality.
The Evaluation Unit will collaborate with you to measure your program's effectiveness and impact. A clear set of milestones, benchmarks, and outcomes will be created to measure various effects. Quantitative and qualitative approaches are typically used to assess program impact and success.
The School of Medicine Office of Research Evaluation Unit supports UC Davis Health faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and students in building an understanding of and capacity for program evaluation. Our team has led numerous national, regional, or local workshops since 2009 on topics such as social network analysis, survey research, and qualitative research methods.
