Send an email with the subject: Matching Support Request for NIH Program Project (P) and Center Grants (U).
Complete the Matching Support Request form (PDF). Draft versions for attachments are acceptable.
The requester will receive an email confirmation of the request within 1-2 business days. The request will be reviewed and processed in 14 business days. The matching support decision will be emailed to PI.
The current formula for calculating the matching support for NIH center grants is 6% of total direct costs that come to the School of Medicine.
Matching support decision will be based on the following factors (below) during the review process: Impact on the School of Medicine, fit with research priorities, translational potential, feasibility, investigators/diversity, cross-campus/UC collaboration, and/or prior commitments to the department.
The Administrative Coordinating Council of Deans (ACCD) primarily coordinates institutional matches in support of major extramural grants that involve faculty from three or more schools/colleges (or faculty from Office of Research + 2 colleges/schools). The ACCD also coordinates institutional support for core facilities when deemed appropriate.
Researchers should consult and review the preferred templates prior to presenting to ACCD with the School of Medicine Assistant Dean for Research, Anuurad Erdembileg (anuerdem@health.ucdavis.edu) . The ACCD match funding requests should be submitted at least 5 weeks prior to sponsor’s deadlines. Forms submitted directly to the UC Davis Office of Research will be delayed.
All match requests are reviewed initially for:
• Academic merit
• Scope of impact
• Minimum of 3 units: Office of Research + 2 colleges/divisions/schools or 3 colleges/divisions/schools
• Breadth of faculty involved in the grant proposal and whether a match is required (formally or implicitly) by the funding agency or simply desired Financial/budget templates and presentation on match request type for ACCD requests.
If a request does not pass initial review, it may be negotiated outside of ACCD by email led by the UC Davis Office of Research. The School of Medicine Office of Research may refer PI to the School of Medicine Grants Facilitation Unit or to the Proposal Development Services (PDS) team in the Office of Research for guidance.
