Residency and Fellowship Programs
Welcome Letter for Prospective Residency Applicants
Dear Prospective Resident,
Thank you for your interest in the UC Davis Health Department of Dermatology Residency Program. We are excited for the upcoming application season and wish all applicants the very best. This section of our website is designed specifically for you, the prospective resident. We take pride in our comprehensive training program, which offers extensive exposure across all areas of dermatology. Our residents have the opportunity to learn from more than 30 faculty and visiting faculty members, each with unique expertise in different dermatologic subspecialties. This collaborative approach ensures a rich and diverse training experience that prepares our residents for excellence in every aspect of dermatology.
Our program is also on the leading edge of dermatologic research. Members of the department engage in clinical as well as basic science research investigating wound healing, psoriasis, epithelial growth and differentiation, aging skin, diabetes, cultured-skin substitutes, inflammation, autoimmunity, and more.
We are located at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. We have two outpatient clinical sites near central Sacramento, as well as clinical training sites at the Veterans Administration (VA) and Kaiser Permanente. Our department is rapidly expanding to better serve the growing referral base across Northern California and Nevada.
Our program requires three years (PGY 2-4) of dermatology training for graduation. Residents may complete their PGY-1 at any teaching hospital in the United States in the disciplines of Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Preliminary Year or a Transitional Year. Interviews are by invitation only. For the most up-to-date information on interview dates and deadlines, please visit the application section of our website.
We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our program.
Warm regards,
