June 15th - August 7th, 2026
UC Davis Health Volunteer Services is excited to welcome high school students interested in healthcare and medicine. The Summer VolunTEEN Program offers a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in hospital and outpatient settings while exploring potential careers in healthcare. With placements in areas such as Patient Transportation, Radiology, ENT/Internal Medicine, Neuroscience Specialties & Epilepsy Monitoring, Patient Discharge, and more, students are sure to have a meaningful and rewarding experience.
Program Structure:
8-week program with a minimum 6-week commitment. Volunteers serve 1–2 four-hour shifts per week, based on unit discretion and overall enrollment. VolunTEEN shifts run Monday–Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (standard shifts: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.).
Important note - If you receive a positive result form either test - you must provide proof of the positive TB test result and medical documentation of a negative chest X-ray report stating "There is no sign of TB" from your doctor. This chest X-ray must be completed within the last 3 months.
Only applicants who have fully completed their volunteer application by May 4, 2026 will be considered. This includes all required waivers and trainings, medical records, two letters of recommendation, a signed permission form, and a cleared background check (for applicants 18 and over).
Opportunities are limited. If the number of applicants exceeds available shifts, placements will be made on a first-come, first-served basis according to application completion date.
Once accepted into the program, participants may indicate their first and second choice of placement department; however, final placement will be determined by availability and the department’s scheduling needs.
