Most men diagnosed with Klinefelter’s syndrome are azoospermic (no sperm in ejaculate) and, in the past, were unable to have biological children. Thanks to advances in in-vitro fertilization (IVF), however, many men with this condition now have the possibility of fathering biological children.

Our UC Davis Health urologists are highly experienced in microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE), the procedure most fertility centers use to retrieve sperm in men with Klinefelter’s syndrome.

In addition to performing this specialized surgery, we provide:

  • Hormonal optimization before surgery to improve the chance of sperm retrieval.

  • Personalized counseling on fertility potential.

  • Guidance for families about the best timing for sperm retrieval, including in teenagers and young men who are newly diagnosed.

With expert care and advanced surgical techniques, we help patients with Klinefelter’s explore their options for building a family.
