Telehealth and Technology Applications

Our investigators are currently studying telehealth-based assessments and infant development and utilizing telehealth to help improve the long-term use of buprenorphine for opioid addiction.

  • Can telehealth help patients stick with Buprenorphine for opioid addiction?

    Description
A clinical trial aims to improve the long-term use of buprenorphine, a critical medication for treating patients with opioid use disorder. The new study focuses on patients prescribed buprenorphine in emergency departments, where there is a need for effective follow-up care. It will explore the efficacy of telehealth compared to in-person follow-up appointments. The project is designed to address barriers that many patients face, including low income, lack of transportation and social instability.

  • Telehealth Evaluation of Development for Infants (TEDI Study)

    Description
The goals of this project are to learn more about the development and outcomes of infants with early developmental concerns via telehealth, and to identify different factors that support families’ participation and satisfaction with telehealth-based assessments.

In this study, researchers will meet over telehealth with caregivers and babies over time to see how they develop. They can also help identify if additional supports may be helpful. They will get information about how to make telehealth easier for families. This study will take place completely online.
