UC Davis Orthopaedic Surgery USAF Integrated Residency Program
The UC Davis Department of Orthopaedic Surgery residency program, in collaboration with the United States Air Force (USAF), offers one active duty post graduate training position in each new residency class. Interested applicants from the USUHS (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences), HPSP-affiliated programs (Health Professions Scholarship Program), and current active duty physicians should apply through the Joint Services GME Selection Board. Integrated Air Force residents will complete the same ACGME-accredited (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) 5-year Orthopaedic Surgery curriculum as their civilian counterparts with the addition of rotations at David Grant Medical Center (DGMC), Travis AFB. Integrated residents will be on active duty orders throughout their training and will be entitled to pay and benefits commensurate to their rank and grade. Graduates of the program will be eligible for board certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Upon completion of integrated residency training, Air Force graduates will enter the Air Force Medical Corps as Orthopaedic Surgeons with the opportunity to apply for fellowships.
To apply for an USAF active duty tour (ADT)/acting internship at UC Davis and DGMC, 4th year medical students will need to submit an application through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) as well as an ADT request form.
