Program Administration and Leadership

The M.D./Ph.D. program is led by a director, two associate directors, and a program manager, who oversee day-to-day operations and student support. 

In addition to managing the program, the directors along with members of the faculty steering committee serve as advisors to M.D./Ph.D. students. Each student is paired with a dedicated M.D./Ph.D. advisor who provides ongoing guidance, helps plan their training, and monitors their progress.

This advisor is separate from the student’s research mentor, who oversees their Ph.D. work.

The Steering Committee and Its Role

Composed of UC Davis Health faculty from the biomedical sciences, social sciences, and humanities, the Steering Committee helps shape program policies and plays a key role in the admissions process. Members also serve as advisors to M.D./Ph.D. students.
