About Our Program

The UC Davis M.D./Ph.D. Program is an integrated dual-degree pathway designed for students pursuing careers as physician-scientists and academic leaders. Students complete both medical training and advanced research, preparing for careers that combine patient care with scientific discovery.

  • Dual-Degree Training

    Our program is an integrated training program that combines medical and graduate education, leading to both the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees.

    Ph.D. training can be pursued across a wide range of disciplines through UC Davis graduate programs.

  • Funding Support

    M.D./Ph.D. students receive full financial support during their four years of medical school training, including:

    • Tuition and fees
    • Health insurance
    • Annual stipend

    Current stipend (2025–2026): $38,000

  • Research Opportunities

    M.D./Ph.D. students have access to research opportunities across UC Davis, including:

    • Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine 
    • Colleges of Biological Sciences, Engineering, and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences 

    Students may also train in interdisciplinary research centers such as:

    • Cancer Center 
    • Center for Neuroscience 
    • Genome Center 
    • MIND Institute
