About Our Programs

Our accelerated competency-based education (ACE) programs at UC Davis School of Medicine prepare future primary care physicians and psychiatrists to enter the workforce sooner and help address the critical shortage of primary care doctors in Northern California.

Our innovative pathways allow students to complete medical school in three years while gaining the experience and preparation needed to serve diverse and underserved populations.

Our accelerated competency-based programs offer innovative pathways for medical students committed to primary care and psychiatry careers in rural and underserved communities in Northern California.

  • Accelerated Primary Care Pathway

    The Accelerated Competency-based Education in Primary Care (ACE-PC) pathway is designed to fast-track students into primary care careers. We currently offer two pathway programs:

    • ACE-PC
    • Rural ACE-PC

    Programs encompass:

    • 3-year medical degree in primary care
    • Accelerated, rigorous academic curriculum
    • Early, continuous hands-on training in primary care settings
    • Focus on medically underserved communities, with rural placement for Rural ACE-PC

  • Accelerated Psychiatry Pathway

    The Accelerated Competency-based Education in Psychiatry (ACE-Psych) pathway is a three-year medical degree for students pursuing a career in psychiatry. We currently offer two pathway programs:

    • ACE-Psych
    • Rural ACE-Psych

    Programs encompass:

    • 3-year medical degree with a focus in psychiatry
    • Accelerated, rigorous academic curriculum
    • Early, continuous hands-on training in psychiatry and behavioral health clinical sites
    • Focus on medically underserved communities, with rural placement for Rural ACE-Psych
