New benefit offers expert support for student loan repayment and forgiveness
A new benefit available to eligible UC Davis and UC Davis Health employees is designed to help employees and their families better understand their options and make decisions about their student loans.
Through a partnership with Tuition.io, eligible employees now have access to no-cost student loan debt counseling, including unlimited one-on-one consultations with student loan experts. The service offers personalized guidance on repayment plans, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), consolidation, future borrowing decisions and more.
The program is available to eligible employees in faculty, academic and staff career or contract appointments, including postdoctoral scholars and residents, as well as employees on paid leave. Family members are also eligible to use the service.

Employees can schedule virtual appointments with student loan experts to receive guidance based on their specific financial situation and goals. Support is available for a wide range of topics, including:

Federal student loan changes begin July 1
The launch of the new benefit comes ahead of several major federal student loan changes scheduled to take effect July 1, 2026. According to Tuition.io, those changes may affect repayment plan eligibility, PSLF pathways and borrowing options for future education.
Employees with federal student loans are encouraged to review their repayment strategy now to better understand how the changes may affect them.
