Ali’s research examines the microbial-host interaction in obesity and metabolic health, long-term outcomes and comorbidity reduction in metabolic bariatric surgery, and the genetic and hormonal bases of obesity.
Ali was also a finalist for the Dr. Ronald Clements Patient Safety, Quality, and Clinical Excellence Award. The awards were presented at the 2026 Treatment Research and Education to end Obesity Foundation Gala & LEAD Awards in San Antonio on May 5.
