Leadership Message: Celebrating PRIDE Month
Dear Colleagues,
As we recognize PRIDE Month at UC Davis Health, I offer my thanks to our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, patients, learners, families and allies who help strengthen our culture of compassion, inclusion and belonging every day.
PRIDE Month is both a celebration and a reminder. It celebrates the courage, authenticity and contributions of all people throughout our organization and community. It also reminds us that building a health system where every person feels respected, safe and valued requires ongoing commitment and action.
At UC Davis Health, our mission to improve health for all depends on creating an environment where people can bring their genuine selves to work, receive equitable care as a patient and family, and know that in all cases they belong. Our diversity of experiences and perspectives strengthens our ability to care for patients, advance discovery, educate future health professionals, take care of each other, and serve our communities with excellence.
It has been my honor to serve as the executive sponsor of our PRIDE Employee Resource Group this year. I am continually inspired by the dedication and leadership of colleagues who help foster connection, advocacy and support across UC Davis Health. Their – and your – efforts contribute meaningfully to our workplace culture and ensure that inclusion remains an active part of who we are — not simply an aspiration or lip service.
This month we have an opportunity to stand visibly with the broader Sacramento community. On June 14, we can join the 2026 Sacramento PRIDE March alongside colleagues and family from UC Davis and UC Davis Health.
Sacramento Pride is among UC Davis Health’s largest community events and a key moment for the Office for Health Equity by Design for Inclusive Excellence.
This year’s theme, “Empowered by Hope,” reflects the importance of community, resilience and optimism at a time when connection and understanding matter deeply. Visit the 2026 PRIDE Information Hub for more details.
Events like Sacramento PRIDE remind us that our mission of health care extends beyond the walls of our clinics and hospitals, across space and time. It is rooted in trust, thrives with visibility, relies on partnership, and values human dignity.
Thank you for all you do to make our UC Davis Health a place where kindness, respect and inclusion guide how we care for one another and those we serve.
Together, we are building a healthier and more welcoming future for all.
Stay well,
Bruce Lee Hall, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S.
