ACC café to close July 20

The café in the Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) will permanently close, effective July 20. The location will continue to offer current menus, snacks and beverages as usual through July 17 at 2:30 p.m.

The ACC café is out of date and needs expensive upgrades. Therefore, it will be closed and replaced with other options. No one will lose their job; everyone will be reassigned to other food service duties.

“We recognize that this location has been far more than a food and beverage operation since opening in 1998. It has been a place for connection for our ACC staff members, visitors and community members alike,” said Executive Chef Santana Diaz. “With heartfelt appreciation, we thank everyone who worked, ate or simply enjoyed the space during a break at the ACC Café over the years. The dedication, hospitality and relationships built here have left a lasting impact on our care teams.”

Why is the ACC café closing?

The 48X Complex provides food options at its new Nourish Café, which is steps from the ACC building. Rather than invest in costly upgrades and repairs for the ACC Cafe’s aging facility, it is more financially responsible to consolidate dining locations.

What options remain in the ACC building?

Byte Boxes will be installed in the ACC. Replenished daily by Food and Nutrition Services, these refrigerated vending machines will feature breakfast options, sandwiches, salads, snacks and beverages for purchase. Precise Byte Box locations will be announced soon.

Where is the closest campus eatery?

Located next door to the ACC building, the 48X Complex Nourish Café offers breakfast options, sandwiches, snacks and beverages. Customers may place online orders in advance for easy pick-up.

The Scrubs Café offers breakfast options, sandwiches, snacks and beverages in the Education Building, a five-minute walk from the ACC.

The Pavilion Café in the main hospital features a full kitchen and a bountiful, rotating menu of fresh hot and cold meals and snacks every day of the week.
