Volunteer Chaplain sitting with a hospitalized woman.

Volunteer Chaplains are valued members of Chaplaincy Services and Education Department and UC Davis Health. Our volunteers provide services to patients, families and staff through patient visits and support for all faith communities and for persons of no faith tradition.

Volunteer Chaplains provide a welcome partnership of caring in this transformative ministry. There are hundreds of people on any given day at the hospital who are going through major life changes; many are lonely, and many are looking to connect with their faith and with God. We greatly welcome and appreciate the participation of volunteers who would be able to offer a companioning and compassionate presence for patients and families who are sick. We believe that this ministry has the potential to bear rich fruits not only for the patients, but also for the Volunteer Chaplains who journey with them.
