Philosophy of Care

My approach to care is grounded in cultural humility, collaboration, and compassion. I believe that healing happens in relationship, and I strive to create a space where youth and families feel seen, heard, and supported. As a bilingual, bicultural Guatemalan American psychologist, I am especially attuned to the ways culture, systemic inequities, and lived experiences shape mental health. I work alongside my patients to co-create goals that honor their strengths, identities, and values, and I draw from evidence-based practices to support their growth and well-being.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Del Cid provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults in both English and Spanish. She has clinical expertise in a range of interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cue-centered therapy, prolonged exposure, mindfulness-based stress reduction, motivational interviewing, and family-focused programs such as PMT, multidimensional family therapy, functional family therapy, and the family check-up. Her clinical work centers on underserved and marginalized populations, with a focus on Latinx communities, newcomer immigrant youth, and systems-involved youth.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Del Cid’s research focuses on reducing behavioral health disparities among marginalized youth, including systems-impacted and newcomer immigrant populations. She examines how social determinants of health influence development and mental health outcomes. Her work combines community-based participatory research with the development of culturally responsive digital mental health interventions.
