Esketamine Therapy
Explore this therapyEsketamine (brand name Spravato®) is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an antidepressant medication that is prescribed and administered as a nasal spray. It works differently than other antidepressant medications in that it affects the glutamate system in the brain, while most antidepressants affect serotonin or norepinephrine.
Appointments and Referrals
For patients
Mental and behavioral health services require a referral from your primary care provider. Please contact your primary care provider to request one. Once you have a referral, have the following information ready when scheduling an appointment for yourself or a loved one:
- Your (or your dependent’s) insurance card and/or eligibility information
- A list of current medications you or your loved one are taking
- A method of payment for your insurance co-payment, if applicable
- Any updates to your address, employment, or insurance coverage, if applicable

To refer a patient to us, please contact our referral specialists at 916-703-3300 to request a form. If you have questions, our referral specialists are available to help connect your patient with the appropriate UC Davis mental health provider and services.
