Dr. Ahmad’s philosophy of care is to combine professionalism and efficiency with genuine compassion for each patient. She believes excellent care means not only offering the highest standard of surgical and clinical expertise, but also taking time to listen, educate, and support patients in making informed decisions about their eye health. She is committed to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice, and strives to deliver care that is both thorough and thoughtful. Above all, patients and their families should feel confident in the care they receive.
Dr. Ahmad is a glaucoma specialist with expertise in managing both early and advanced disease, as well as the full spectrum of cataract and glaucoma surgery. She is particularly interested in optimizing clinical workflows to improve access and reduce wait times for patients, while also eliminating unnecessary screening and testing. She is committed to adopting the latest surgical techniques to ease recovery after surgery.
Dr. Ahmad received her medical degree with honors, her general surgery internship, and her residency training in ophthalmology from the University of California, San Francisco. During this time, she served on multiple hospital committees focused on patient safety and quality improvement. Dr. Ahmad is widely published, with more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, focusing particularly on socioeconomic issues in health. She has extensive experience in teaching and peer review, serving as a reviewer for nationally-recognized journals.
