My patient care philosophy centers around communication. I believe that every decision must be reached in an educated manner and tailored to the individual. I believe in establishing a relationship with every patient and building trust and confidence over time to jointly design an optimal treatment plan. I strive to treat every patient with compassion, respect and care.
Dr. Adi Wollstein is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery and is fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity and microvascular surgery. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her residency in orthopaedic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She then went on to complete a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of Utah.
Dr. Wollstein cares for patients of all ages for the entire spectrum of conditions affecting the upper extremity. Her clinical interests include complex upper extremity trauma including distal radius fractures, scaphoid fractures and non unions, and elbow and forearm fractures; degenerative conditions of the hand, fingers, wrist and elbow; upper extremity reconstruction including nerve and tendon transfers; treatment of rheumatoid arthritis; and other common surgical and non-surgical problems that occur in the hand and arm.
Dr. Wollstein's research and academic interests include patient outcomes of traumatic injuries of the upper extremity and incorporating wide awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) into her practice - which can decrease time, expense and inconvenience that can be associated with smaller hand surgeries. Dr. Wollstein is particularly invested in resident and fellow education and mentorship.
