UC Davis Health providers accept many major health plans. Several of the specific plans that we accept are shown in the lists below on this page. Information and links for CalPERS, Medicare, Covered California and Medi-Cal options follow at the bottom of the page.
UC Davis Health specialty care for adults and children may be available when the need arises. Most specialists require a referral from a primary care physician or another specialist. Your ability to see a UC Davis Health specialist may be limited by your health plan, or by our current capacity to see new patients in that specialty. For referral process information, please call 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284).
When we are accepting new primary care patients, here’s how to select your personal UC Davis Health doctor:
If your health insurance plan does include us, but you’re currently part of another medical group, your plan may allow you to switch anytime.
If your plan doesn’t include us, you may want to consider switching health plans during your open enrollment period.
For more information or assistance, call our Consumer Resource Center at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284), or see our frequently asked questions.

For primary care, UC Davis Health/UC Davis Medical Group is in-network with Health Net Community Solutions, a Medi-Cal HMO plan. The plan is currently closed to new sign-ups for primary care services from UC Davis Health.
Note: For several other Medi-Cal HMO or Managed Medi-Cal plans, UC Davis Health/UC Davis Medical Group are contracted and may be accessed for specialty care and hospital care. In these plans, your primary care provider would not be from UC Davis Health. Your primary care provider would need to refer you to UC Davis Health in order for you to receive specialty care here. Your health plan and/or primary care provider would also need to authorize all services provided by UC Davis Health.

We accept a wide variety of health insurance plans. View our list of accepted plans, or call our Consumer Resource Center at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) for more information.
If your health insurance plan does include us, but you’re currently part of another medical group, your plan may allow you to switch anytime.
If your plan doesn’t include us, you may want to consider switching health plans during your open enrollment period.
If we aren’t part of your insurance’s network of primary care doctors and specialists, the type of insurance you have may result in additional fees to see an out-of-network provider.
For example, if you are in a managed care plan, you may be responsible for the cost of an exam or procedure by an out-of-network physician.
You can talk to your health insurance plan about your options if you would like to see one of our primary care doctors or specialists.
Our specialists are available when the need arises. Most specialists require a referral from a primary care physician or another specialist.
It’s important to note that your ability to see our specialists may be limited by your health plan.
For information on the referral process, contact our Consumer Resource Center at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284).

We are dedicated to enhancing access to health care services for our diverse patient population through professional medical interpretation, translation services and cross-cultural communication. UC Davis Health interpreters and translators serve patients in several languages, including Spanish, Russian, Hmong and many others.
Many UC Davis Health primary care physicians, nurses and staff members are bilingual or multilingual, and select interpreting services are available at primary care locations throughout the Sacramento region.
If you wish to find a non-English-speaking physician, please use our Find a Doctor tool and type the language you want such as “Spanish” in the key word field. You can also call the office of your choice and ask if they have any physicians that speak your language and are currently accepting new patients.
For further assistance, call the Consumer Resource Center at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) where certified interpreters are available as needed.
