More than a dozen wellness activities are available to members of the UC Davis and UC Davis Health community. Check out the events happening this month.

ASAP support groups

The Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) offers several online support group sessions. See dates below for each group session.

Support group for neurodivergent staff

This is a caring space for neurodivergent staff to share ideas and support one another in using their strengths to cultivate professional effectiveness, emotional well-being, mindful living, and interpersonal understanding. 

Dates: Monday, May 4 and 18
Time: 1 – 2:30 p.m.

Pet loss support group

In collaboration with the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, ASAP hosts a once-monthly discussion/support group that invites space for participants to meet and share experiences of grief after losing a beloved pet, find community and discuss strategies for coping and self-care. The group is open for attendance from hospital clients as well as UC Davis and UC Davis Health community members.

Eldercare support group

Participants will have the opportunity to share personal experiences with eldercare, learn about community resources, and obtain guidance on relevant topics.

Dates: Wednesday, May 13 and 27
Time: Noon – 1 p.m.

15 minute daily meditation

Daily meditation sessions offer a quiet, minimally guided space to practice — a bell marks the beginning and end, and the rest is yours.

New to meditation? Try a few sessions from Safety Services' mindfulness programs to help you build a foundation before joining the daily meditation.

Dates: Monday – Friday until June 13 (excluding May 26)

Conflict competence workshop: The power of appreciation

Join the UC Davis Ombuds Office to learn about and discuss the topic of appreciation at work. Information will be provided on the positive impacts of genuine and effective appreciation in the workplace. Reflection and engagement with colleagues from different departments will help illuminate how you can integrate appreciation into the culture of your work and learning environments. This will be an interactive session. Come prepared to participate.

Options for dealing with debt

Staff Assembly, in partnership with Employee Well-being, is pleased to offer a financial well-being series presented by University Credit Union.

This month, learn about the tools available to help you consolidate debt and rebuild credit after financial hardship. Discover different repayment structures to help chip away at your debt and lead you to a debt free life.

Relax and release series

Taking time to relax is vital to our health, well-being and optimal functioning. Learn how to activate your body’s natural relaxation response in these sessions presented by Neesha Patel, Ph.D., Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being.

Focus on your health and well-being and strengthen your inner resources with science-based mindfulness meditation, kindness meditation, and mindful pause. Neesha Patel, Ph.D., Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being, will lead these sessions.

Bloom – UC systemwide virtual challenge

Bloom is a wellness challenge that encourages you to stay active by logging 4,000+ steps daily. Activities like walking, swimming, cycling, dancing, or yoga count through automatic step conversion. Join a team of four to five for friendly competition, participate in Bloom Bingo, and share your spring experiences on the community page.

Registration open: Represent UC Davis and UC Davis Health and engage in friendly competition with our sister UC campuses.
