Expansion
ahead
Radiation
Oncology is on the move to a 6,600-square-foot addition beneath
the southeast corner of the Cancer Center. The ground-level addition
will house a new, extremely powerful linear accelerator, and feature
skylights and a window overlooking a sunken garden. The new wing
will also add administration and faculty areas.
The project is slated to begin this spring, and should be completed
by the end of 2004.
The next phase of the building plan calls for a complete remodel
of the center to make room for new examination areas, dosimetry,
a physics work room and equipment storage.
The $12 million project reflects the huge growth in patient visits
to the cancer center, and the significant increase in faculty physicians.
