From a climbing wall to a one-mile survivors' walk, UC
Davis Cancer Center celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day on June 6 with activities that drew hundreds
of cancer survivors and their supporters to the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park on the
Medical Center campus. A dozen local cancer organizations and support groups, from the UC
Davis Cancer Center Prostate Cancer Support Group to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, planned the
morning. In keeping with the climbing theme, Dasha Drab, a breast cancer survivor who leads fellow survivors
on hikes in the Sierra, delivered the keynote. Other highlights: Face-painting by local Brownie troops,
laughter therapy and free massages.
