The UC Davis Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s Neuromuscular Research Lab is dedicated to supporting students living with neuromuscular diseases (NMD) as they pursue their educational and professional aspirations beyond high school. This $500 scholarship aims to empower these students by recognizing their resilience, fostering their academic growth, and providing resources to help them achieve their goals.

Requirements to Apply

  • Must have muscular dystrophy or know someone affected by muscular dystrophy
  • Must be enrolled in or planning to attend post-secondary education or trade school
  • Submit response to the essay prompt below

Essay Prompt: In 400-500 words, please share how living with a neuromuscular disease or living with someone who is affected has shaped your academic journey and aspirations. Discuss the challenges you have faced, the strategies you have used to overcome them, and your vision for the future. How would receiving this scholarship support your continued success in achieving your educational and career goals?
