Special Chemistry and Toxicology Supervisor (Link to Lab contact)
Special Chemistry
Special Chemistry (AKA Chem 2) performs a variety of routine immunoassays, some HPLC, and several manual tests. The testing utilizes a variety of methodologies and instruments and includes hormone assays, serum tumor markers, anemia assays, hepatitis tests, infectious disease and HIV antibody tests, hemoglobin A1c, serum free light chains, QuantiFERON, and sweat chloride testing. Many of these tests are run in scheduled batches only certain days of the week, so test result turn around times may be several days. The majority of testing is performed on serum, although some of the tests require EDTA plasma, EDTA whole blood, specific heparin collection tube sets, or special procedures such as for the sweat collection. Please refer to the online test menu at http://www.testmenu.com/ucdavis for specific tests and for details on sample types and collection directions.
Toxicology
Toxicology Laboratory services include both routine and STAT analysis in blood and urine samples. Testing includes therapeutic drug and transplant drug testing, drugs of abuse screening, urine confirmation for amphetamines, pain management compliance testing for opioids, general drug overdose screening, and blood lead testing.
The Toxicology Laboratory performs testing for adults and pediatric patients utilizing a variety of specialized analyzers and methods including immunoassay, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS/MS and atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
