Clinical history:

The patient is a 51 year old female with a right upper eyelid swelling present for at least nine months. The patient complains of no pain, discharge or vision abnormalities. There is no history of local trauma. On examination fullness was noted on the right upper eyelid and a soft rubbery mass was present on the medial aspect of the upper eyelid. Imaging showed pre-septal orbital abnormality and lacrimal abnormality with a differential diagnosis including lymphoma, infection, pseudotumor and neoplasm.

An excision biopsy was performed and a frozen section was requested.  

Gross description:

Received for frozen section was an irregularly shaped piece of yellow fatty tissue measuring 1.6 x 0.8 x 0.4 cm. Similar fragments measuring 2.2 x 2.0 x 0.4 cm in aggregate were subsequently submitted in formalin. (No gross photos available).

  • CK-20

  • Mucicarmine
