Bone Anchored Hearing Systems
In conjunction with the surgeons of UC Davis Medical Center Otolaryngology Clinic, our Audiologists provide services and evaluations for Bone Anchored Hearing Systems (BAHS).
A BAHS provides amplification (sound) by sending sounds directly to the inner ear (cochlea) via bone conduction. BAHS can be surgically implanted or used with a headband (softband).
BAHS are used in place of traditional amplification for conductive or mixed hearing losses when use of the traditional hearing aid is contraindicated. It can also be used as treatment for single-sided deafness (SSD).
Both Oticon Medical and Cochlear devices are used at UC Davis Medical Center.
