DAISY Award—Lauren Saint
Lauren Saint
Davis 7 Pediatrics
I am writing to nominate Lauren Sharp, our primary nurse, for the DAISY Award. My son has been in the hospital for 87 days and counting, undergoing care for multiple complex medical issues. Throughout this incredibly challenging time, Lauren has been a pillar of support, not only for our son, but for our entire family.
One of the most amazing things about Lauren is the connection she’s built with him. Their bond goes beyond nurse and patient, they’ve created a friendship rooted in laughter. Lauren has a special way of making him smile, and their favorite joke, “Why did the chicken cross the road?” never fails to bring out giggles. This simple routine has become a highlight in his day, helping to bring a sense of normalcy and joy in an otherwise difficult situation. Lauren’s expertise and dedication to her work have been evident in the exceptional care she provides. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure he is comfortable and well-cared for, explaining medical procedures in a way that is understandable and reassuring. She is quick to respond to any changes in his condition, always advocating for his best interests.
More than just her technical skill, Lauren has been a source of emotional strength for us. She takes the time to connect with our son, making him feel safe and cared for in a difficult environment. Her compassion extends to our family, always checking in on how we are doing and offering encouragement on the hardest days.
Her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to providing the best care have truly made a difference in our journey. We are forever grateful for the positive impact she has had on our son’s recovery and our family’s well-being. Lauren embodies the true spirit of nursing, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award.
