The pediatric unit located on Davis 7 consists of 48 private and semiprivate rooms and is a vital resource for families from throughout the region.
Davis 7 Pediatrics provides cares for children from infancy to 16 years old. Our patient population consists of a wide range of acute illnesses such as respiratory, trauma, surgical, orthopedic, inpatient rehabilitation, chronic diseases including renal failure, cardiology, gastrointestinal disease, neurological impairments, and hematology/oncology patients.
Each room on our unit is furnished with a sleep chair to allow a parent to remain overnight to support their child. Patients have their own television and DVD player with access to a large library of movies. The unit has playrooms with age-appropriate furnishings that allow children to engage in developmentally important activities to support the healing process. In addition, there is a teen patient lounge complete with a PlayStation 5 videogaming console, computer access, movies, a book library, art corner, foosball and games. A separate treatment room for unpleasant or painful procedures, such as starting an intravenous line, helps to preserve their room as a "safe place."
Our highly trained pediatric nurses provide compassionate, family-centered care in a respectful environment. We understand that the family is the constant in a child's life. We believe family members are essential to the recovery and well-being of pediatric patients. When a child is ill, the entire family must be a part of the treatment and healing process. Davis 7 Pediatrics emphasizes the importance of teamwork in the treatment of children, and the involvement of multidisciplinary approach to oversee a child's care from diagnosis forward. In addition to traditional philosophies on healing, additional modalities having the ability to provide a calming effect on children and families and promote healing are available including pet therapy, reiki, guided imagery and quiet time.
