It is with both with pleasure and pride that I nominate Johnfred Aglupos for the DAISY Award. I have had the benefit of watching "Fred" skillfully work with patients each day . In my 33 years of nursing, I have worked with many excellent nurses. However, I have never worked with an individual like Fred. Each day he approaches his patient care assignment the same. He is positive and receiving and embodies a gratefulness to be able to share the moments of his patients lives as well as their family. He assists his colleagues whenever needed and receives them in the same manner. Fred approaches each clinical situation with integrity and has the courage to advocate for his patients and even workflows that maximize safety in all situations. Most recently, we had a patient that staff were having difficulty with placing an IV. Fred joined in to assist, he approached the patient with such compassion, warmth, and competence. His assistance is always to remedy the situation and benefit the patient, never to show off his skill. He remains humble and persistently kind to all involved, to a level that is almost indescribable. Additionally, Fred continued to follow up on this patient, he takes ownership in his work and circles back, in tasks and patient care. Fred is persistently respectful of others and his patients. Fred never faulters from communicating with patients and others on the healthcare team with the highest of standard, he truly seems to see the person behind the patient and honors who they are, he is remarkable.
