This new residency fills a critical need for more Child Neurologists throughout the country, and creating it was one of my top priorities when I began as Neurology Department Chair in 2020. As a board certified Child Neurologist myself, I personally understand the importance of specialized training in preparation to care for the unique needs of children and adolescents with nervous system disorders. Not only is this an amazing time for our residency education, but also the 21st century is a remarkable time to be training in the field of Child Neurology. Unparalleled advances in neuroscience and bioengineering research are leading to life-saving treatments for previously incurable illness. We’re experiencing a dynamic transformation in neurological care for all. Delivering these new therapies to the many patients who need them will require a large, diverse and well-trained Child Neurology workforce.
