The Committee on Educational Policy and the Office of Medical Education welcome all UC Davis faculty, and local and regional affiliates (e.g., VCP) to attend the I-EXPLORE Spring 2025 Conference on Friday, April 4, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., in the Educational Building.

The morning will focus on classroom education and the afternoon will focus on clinical education. The conference offers perspectives for both new and experienced educators. Register via this link; registration is open through Monday, March 24. 

Morning workshops includes sessions on:

  • Plenary: Health Systems Science in Medical Education, given by guest speaker, Jed Gonzalo, MD, from Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine 
  • Active Learning Pedagogy's Role in I-EXPLORE, a review by Pre-Clerkship Phase Director, Anthony Bhe, MD, and the Chair of the Curriculum Steering Advisory Committee, Karnjit Johl, MD
  • Problem-Based Learning (PBL): The Student Experience, led by PBL Lead Maya Evans,  MD, and Blaisdell Medical Librarian, Amy Studer, MSLIS
  • Pillar Team-Based Learning: The Student Experience, led by TBL Lead, Rachael Lucatorto, MD

The afternoon includes concurrent sessions;participants will be able to attend two:

  • Bedside and Clinical Reasoning, led by Clerkship Directors, Kristen Kelly, MD, and Jessie Medina, MD
  • Identifying and Helping a Struggling Clinical Learning, led by Clinical Guidance Leads, Elise Harris, MD, and Eric Signoff, MD 
  • Time Management in Clinical Education, led by Longitudinal Clinical Experience co-Director, Katie Christiansen, MD
  • Giving Feedback to a Clinical Learner, led by Pediatric faculty member, Kelly Haas, MD

Registration includes lunch and snacks. The lunch hour will include the presentation of the I-EXPLORE Achievement Awards for AY24-25 (scroll for the list of previous award recipients). When registering, you have the option for all day or half-day attendance. Registration closes Monday, March 24.

Collaboration and Innovation: (Staff Award, new in AY23-24) Regularly seeks to mesh their expertise and experience with staff and faculty stakeholders across units and departments for collaboration in curriculum delivery and student support, placing significant effort in the development and utilization of new or revised approaches to curriculum needs.
