Scott Carl Fuller, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S., is the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Specialties at UC Davis Health.
In this role, Fuller is responsible for clinical leadership and oversight, physician and staff management, strategic planning and development, and quality and safety across multiple surgical specialties. He is also a distinguished professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at UC Davis Health. With more than two decades of experience, Fuller is renowned for his expertise in the comprehensive management of head and neck diseases, particularly focusing on benign and malignant lesions of the upper aerodigestive tract, advanced malignancies of the skin, salivary gland tumors, and cancers abutting or invading the cranial base.
Fuller earned his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2004 and a Master of Science degree in microbiology at the same institution in 2000. His postgraduate training included a surgery residency at UC Davis Medical Center from 2004 to 2005, followed by a residency in otolaryngology at the same institution from 2005 to 2009. He further specialized in advanced head and neck/microvascular reconstructive surgery during a fellowship at UC Davis Medical Center from 2009 to 2010.
In addition to his clinical practice, Fuller has a profound interest in the surgical management of obstructive sleep apnea, allowing him to tailor surgical interventions to patient-specific anatomic targets. His research interests include functional outcomes in the management of head and neck malignancy and obstructive sleep apnea. He developed a patented technology known as an endoscopy mask for aerosol-generating procedures.
A respected educator, Fuller was recognized with the UC Davis Otolaryngology Faculty Teaching Award in 2019. He has served as a section editor and board member for the journal, “Current Opinion in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery,” and has published extensively in this field.
