Philosophy of Care

I aim to provide care in a caring, efficient, and thorough manner, and believe in the power of education to improve your health. My hope is that every patient and I are allies with the shared goal treating diseases and preventative measures to improve health. It is my goal that you leave our interactions with a strong understanding of your health issues and your next steps to treat them. I promise to be with you during your health journey.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Albert Do is a board-certified hepatologist and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at UC Davis Health, where he specializes in general and transplant hepatology, seeing all types of liver diseases and with passion for steatotic liver disease (metabolic and alcohol-associated liver disease), also called fatty liver disease. He provides comprehensive care to patients with a broad spectrum of general hepatology conditions and is also a member of the UC Davis Liver Transplant Center, offering expertise in pre- and post-transplant management.

He is among a select group of physicians to have five board certifications— internal medicine, gastroenterology, transplant hepatology, obesity medicine, and lifestyle medicine. This breadth of training underscores his commitment to holistic, patient-centered care and to leveraging lifestyle and preventive strategies in liver disease management.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Do’s academic and research interests include metabolic health, metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), the overlap of steatotic liver disease (SLD) with other liver diseases, alcohol-associated liver disease, and liver transplantation. His work has been published in leading medical journals, and he is a dedicated mentor and educators to trainees pursuing careers in gastroenterology and hepatology. He is also an active member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
