Philosophy of Care

Rheumatologic diseases are chronic debilitating conditions affecting patients and their families frequently associated with a long gap between symptom onset and diagnosis, and a significant impact on patients' quality of life. Dr. Gulati's goal is to provide "patient-centric", evidence based, high-quality healthcare and thereby improve outcomes and enhance patient experience through a coordinated approach. Dr. Gulati believes in treating an "individual" and not merely a disease condition, and appreciating patients' goals of care and preferences through collective decision making.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Gulati is a board-certified rheumatologist offering care for adult patients with autoimmune rheumatologic conditions including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory myopathies, and others. He has special clinical interests in systemic lupus erythematosus, and erosive / inflammatory osteoarthritis. His healthcare system related interests include enhancement of patient experiences through high-quality healthcare delivery.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Gulati's research focuses on pathophysiology of systemic lupus erythematosus, with a special interest in the role of environmental factors in the onset and progression of the disease, and identifying early markers of disease activity and progression. He has authored and co-authored multiple PubMed cited manuscripts on this topic, and presented his work at multiple meetings including the American College of Rheumatology Annual Conference.
