I believe that communication is an essential aspect of providing excellent patient care. I encourage my patients to engage in their own care through collaborative decision-making. I strive to coordinate with a patient's other healthcare providers to provide excellent care. Kidney disease is a challenging disease that affects multiple aspects of a patient's life and I work with patients to holistically approach their care to focus on their overall wellbeing.
Dr. Kapa is a general nephrologist providing comprehensive care for adults with kidney disease, including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, glomerular disease, kidney stone disease, and acute kidney injury. He maintains an academic appointment and scholarly interests in pregnancy- and lactation-related kidney disease, with a focus on efficient, high-quality outpatient care.
Dr. Kapa's research interests include progression of chronic kidney disease, nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), glomerulonephritis, acute kidney injury, and women's health in relation to kidney disease (pregnancy and lactation). He is also interested in local and national health care policy issues that affect patients with kidney disease and serves as an active advocate for policy change that improves the quality of care for patients with kidney disease. He also has interest in telenephrology and its ability to expand care to underserved populations.
