Dr. Basheer is a highly experienced endocrinologist with a distinguished career devoted to the diagnosis and management of complex endocrine disorders. Her areas of expertise include thyroid diseases, thyroid nodules and cancer, calcium disorders, bone disease and osteoporosis.
She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care through individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs. By combining advanced knowledge of endocrine physiology with a compassionate and attentive approach, she consistently delivers the highest standards of clinical excellence.

Dr. Basheer’s research primarily focuses on studying thyroid cancer and endocrine disorders among underrepresented populations. Her outstanding work in this field has earned her significant recognition, including the prestigious Hish Yamauchi, M.D. & Family Endowed Translational Research Award from UC Davis. This award acknowledges her groundbreaking research on the prevalence, transcriptional profile, and genetic signature of thyroid cancer among transgender females.
Dr. Basheer is also deeply committed to education and mentorship. She serves as the Site Director of the Endocrine Fellowship Program at the University of California, Davis. In this role, she mentors the next generation of medical residents and endocrine fellows, guiding them in their quality improvement initiatives and research endeavors.
Furthermore, Dr. Basheer conducts significant research on Type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and the therapeutic potential of GLP-1 receptor agonists. Her comprehensive approach aims to improve metabolic control, enhance patient outcomes, and ultimately optimize the quality of life for individuals living with these conditions.
