My philosophy has always been to individualize the care for each patient. As the physician William Osler wrote, "The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease." I strive to be a great physician: to listen, to educate, and to foster patient-physician relationships built on trust and mutual understanding. I encourage my patients to ask questions, and to share the aspects of their care that are uniquely important to them.
Dr. Koff is an Infectious Diseases specialist providing care for patients with a variety of infectious conditions. He has special clinical interests in Transplant Infectious Diseases and the treatment of infections in immunocompromised patients, as well as Antimicrobial Stewardship, engaging with a variety of practitioners to emphasize the importance of the judicious use of antibiotics. He is dedicated to medical education, and enjoys working with trainees of all levels to support the development of the next generation of outstanding medical providers.
Dr. Koff is interested in improving the care of patients with infections through defining best practices using evidence-based medicine. Specifically, he is interested in the intersection of Transplant Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship, integrating informatics with medicine to achieve the most benefit from antibiotic therapies for immunosuppressed patients. He is passionate about teaching trainees at all levels and welcomes opportunities for education and collaboration with the broader medical community.
