UC Davis Health IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity wins AWS Game Day
On Friday, October 10, a talented team of IT Infrastructure and Security engineers from UC Davis Health participated in the AWS Game Day, a challenging 4-hour event that brought together teams from across the entire University of California system. The objective: to compete head-to-head, delivering cost-optimized technical designs for a series of complex cloud scenarios.

AWS Game Day is renowned for its fast-paced, hands-on format, encouraging participants to think creatively and strategically under pressure. Teams were tasked with designing solutions that balanced performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency, pushing their skills to the limit in real-world cloud environments.
This year's event saw 15 teams vying for the top spot, each representing different UC campuses and the Office of the President. The collaborative yet competitive atmosphere fostered innovation and cross-campus networking, as participants tackled technical challenges and shared best practices in cloud architecture and security.

Out of all the competing teams, the team from UC Davis Health emerged as the champion! Their expertise in cloud optimization and security, combined with effective teamwork and strategic problem-solving, positioned them ahead of their peers.
