April celebrates Occupational Health Professionals for providing health services to employees
OHN (Occupational Health Nurses) Week is a national observance each April that celebrates and recognizes members of the occupational health nursing profession. This year, OHN Week is between April 5-11.
While many are familiar with the role of nurses in clinical settings, this week provides an important opportunity to recognize and raise awareness of the vital contributions made by occupational health nurses at UC Davis Health. Our Occupational and Employee Health Clinic (OEHC) staff play a critical role in improving employees’ health through a variety of preventative services, as well as providing clinical care and management to injured workers within the medical center.
Occupational health nurses work to improve the health of employees and support organizational success through preventative services such as flu vaccines and TB screenings, while also providing clinical care and management for injured workers within the medical center, overseeing bloodborne pathogen exposures, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
OEHC providers deliver clinical care to employees with occupational injuries or illnesses and assist in their recovery while facilitating a safe and successful return to work. Collectively, staff collaborate with other departments that work towards creating a culture of health and safety every day, which drives the organization’s success.
