Project Synopsis

This project converted the UC Davis Health Natomas Family Practice and Internal Medicine clinic into an Audiology clinic. Converting the previously underutilized community-based clinic enabled the Audiology department to expand into a new space.

Project Description

This project included refreshing the space with new paint, adding workstations, installing two audio booths and converting a storage room into a restroom. The audio booth installation was the most complex component, requiring floor modifications to achieve ADA-compliant, flush thresholds. Because the enclosed booths include roofs, the existing fire sprinkler system was also modified to add sprinkler heads within each unit. Although the scope was relatively small, the project extended to 10 months due to required booth modifications, including removal of the booth floors to meet ADA standards. Close coordination with the manufacturer was necessary to ensure these changes did not compromise the required STC rating for testing.
